Experienced Accident Attorney Here For You

Any kind of car accident can lead to serious personal and property damage, but side-impact (or T-bone) accidents are often the most catastrophic. These accidents usually occur at intersections when the front-end of a car or truck collides with the side panel of another vehicle. Las Vegas is especially prone to T-bone accidents as you have a number of heavily trafficked intersections with drivers who are often less than responsible–i.e., they have been drinking or distracted from partying, and not paying attention to traffic signals.

T-bone accidents are not simple “fender benders.” Both vehicles are often going at full speed through an intersection. But while the front-end of a vehicle is designed to absorb the maximum impact of a crash to protect the driver and any passengers, the side of a car has nothing more than the door–and maybe an airbag–to protect the occupants.

As a result, side-impact crash victims are much more likely to suffer a serious trauma. Even a side airbag can only absorb the energy of the initial impact. The accident itself may involve multiple impacts, as the driver and passengers are suddenly and violently jerked around the interior of the car. And side impacts frequently lead to rollover accidents, as the impacted vehicle spins around and, depending on the flow of traffic, gets hit several more times.

Naqvi Injury Law is a Las Vegas-based law firm that focuses on helping all kinds of accident victims seek compensation from negligent drivers. With respect to T-bone accidents, we have the experience and the resources to reconstruct what happened and identify all of the responsible parties. We know how to deal with insurance companies that may resist paying out legitimate claims. And we will fight to make sure you receive full compensation for your medical treatment, lost wages, and pain and suffering. A T-bone accident can permanently affect you and your family. Let us help you regain a sense of normalcy by holding accountable those people who caused your injuries.

Understanding the Causes of T-bone Accidents

Most T-bone accidents can be explained simply: A driver runs a red light and hits a vehicle legally in the intersection. But even where there is no traffic signal, Nevada law states, “The driver of a vehicle approaching an intersection shall yield the right-of-way to a vehicle which has entered the intersection from a different highway.” Similarly, when a driver intends to make a left turn, he or she must “yield the right-of-way to any vehicle approaching from the opposite direction which is within the intersection or so close thereto as to constitute an immediate hazard.”

In short, a driver may be liable for a T-bone accident if he or she (1) ran a red light, (2) failed to yield to a car already in the intersection, or (3) made a left turn in front of another vehicle. When a driver violates a traffic law and injures someone else, it is considered “negligence per se” under Nevada law. Unless the defendant can provide sufficient evidence their actions were justified or excusable under the circumstances, negligence per se proves the defendant breached a “duty of care,” which is a critical element of any personal injury claim.

More About T-bone Accident Injuries

But ignoring traffic laws are not the only grounds for establishing a driver’s negligence in a T-bone accident. Many drivers run a red light or make an ill-advised left turn because they are distracted. We all know people who text or use their cell phone while driving. Such practices are not just unsafe. They are also illegal in Nevada. Indeed, using any type of “wireless communications device” to send or receive text or non-voice messages while driving is against the law. A distracted driver is just as negligent as, say, a drunk driver.

And of course, drunk driving is also a significant factor in many T-bone accidents. Unlike a sober driver who simply runs a red light and may attempt to brake before impact–thus potentially lessening the impact–drunk drivers typically act with impunity. They are more likely to not only run a red light or dart into an intersection but to do so at speeds exceeding the posted speed limit. While DUI is prosecuted criminally in Nevada, it is equally important for the accident victims to assert their rights through a personal injury claim to recover civil damages.

Whatever the cause of your T-bone accident, at Naqvi Injury Law, we will get to the bottom of things. You may not realize it at the time, but car accidents involve a complex web of evidence, including police reports, physical damage at the scene, eyewitness statements, and even expert testimony to reconstruct the accident. Dealing with this amount of evidence can be overwhelming for a T-bone accident victim still struggling to recover from their injuries. We can take that burden off your shoulders.

T-bone Accident Injuries

As we noted earlier, T-bone accidents are not minor affairs. In many cases victims suffer fatal injuries. But even in non-fatal accidents, the survivors may face a lifetime of medical care due to a permanent disability. Some of the more common injuries we have seen in T-bone accidents include:

  • Traumatic brain injuries (concussions) and head wounds;
  • Paralysis due to spinal cord injuries;
  • Loss of limbs;
  • Second- and third-degree burns, scarring, and disfigurement;
  • Neck injuries, such as whiplash;
  • Joint and bone injuries; and
  • Muscle and ligament tears.

A personal injury lawsuit can seek not only compensation for your past and current medical expenses arising from a T-bone accident. You also have the right to projected future medical expenses. We can help you assess the total value of your potential claim and make sure the negligent driver–or their insurance company.
