Halloween in the valley is supposed to be fun and festive. But the 2011 version of All Hallow’s Eve may be remembered as one of the most deadly in recent memory. For starters, a man was killed and a teenage girl was wounded in a school park shooting in Las Vegas. We’ve already told you about the 12-year old trick-or-treater who was struck and killed by a suspected drunk driver in a Vegas residential neighborhood. And it appears that the senseless deaths weren’t limited to the Sin City limits.

Family members of a Henderson man are mourning his death after his motorcycle was hit by a sport utility vehicle in Pahrump on Halloween night. According to police, the 32-year old victim was riding his 2008 Harley Davidson southbound on State Route 160 just before 8:30pm Monday night. As he approached the intersection of Basin Street, a 1998 Jeep SUV coming toward him tried to make a left turn onto Basin. The SUV struck the bike, and the Henderson man and his passenger were ejected onto the pavement. Both he and the 23-year old woman were rushed to Pahrump’s Desert View Hospital, where the man died a short time later.

The 21-year old male driver of the Jeep, who is from Pahrump, was cited by police for failure to yield the right-of-way. Based on the facts in the news article, the family of the Henderson man has strong grounds for a wrongful death lawsuit against the Pahrump man. The female passenger may wish to file a personal injury lawsuit against the Jeep driver as well.
