By Farhan Naqvi, Personal Injury Lawyer in Las Vegas
A driver on the Russell Road Overpass above Interstate 15 near the Las Vegas Strip was killed and another driver was injured in a wrong-way accident. According to Metro Police, the driver of a Toyota Camry was not wearing his seat belt and may have been fighting the effects of alcohol when he crossed into oncoming traffic and slammed head-on into a Plymouth Scion traveling the other way. The at-fault died in the wrong-way accident, while the driver of the Scion was taken to University Medical Center with injuries.
The family of the at-fault driver are mourning his passing, but they also may be forced to deal with a possible personal injury lawsuit filed by the driver of the Scion. Though the family members themselves probably can’t be sued, the estate of the at-fault driver and his insurance may be taken to court.
Perhaps that’s the moral of this story: if you make poor choices and lose your life in an auto accident, your mistake could live on in court if any other victims decide to file a claim in order to cover their own medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
