There are few things more heartbreaking than the idea of sick children not being able to seek the healthcare that they need due to a lack of funds or insurance. As such, the Cure 4 the Kids foundation’s charity Bowl 4 The Kids event is an annual must. The event, which took place on August 5, 2017 this year at the Striking Zone Bowling Center, seeks to raise funds to support the Cure 4 The Kids Foundation’s Charity Care Program, providing for those children in the Children’s Specialty Center of Nevada and Hemophilia Treatment Center of Nevada who are without medical insurance.
The event, which occurs annually, is open to bowlers of all skill levels and ages, including patients of the Children’s Specialty Care Center of Nevada and Hemophilia Treatment Center of Nevada, who can of course bowl for free, but must register in advance. For non-patients, the cost to bowl is $25, and includes three games of bowling, a T-shirt, pizza, and drinks. At the event this year, there was also a silent auction and raffle, as well as a bake sale to raise even more money to go to patients and their families. Events designed specifically for kids also took place, including balloon animal-making and face painting.
The Purpose of the Bowl 4 The Kids Event
As stated above, the purpose of the Bowl 4 The Kids event is to raise funds for those patients who have childhood cancer or serious childhood bleeding disorders and do not have health insurance, or do not have the funds to afford treatment otherwise. Annette Logan, Cure 4 The Kids Foundation’s CEO, told nonprofitnews.vegas that it is the foundation’s goal to make sure that no child is ever turned away due to an inability of their family to afford treatment. The organization has, through Bowl 4 The Kids and other fundraiser events, provided about $7 million worth of treatment for children since 2007 who otherwise would not be able to pay for such treatment.
