If you are shopping for a young girl this holiday season, you may be thinking about getting her a new outfit or two. However, you need to be aware of a couple of recalls that pertain to girls’ clothing which has been determined to pose choking hazards.

First, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has recalled about 900 girls’ vest sets and hooded zip jackets manufactured by Los Angeles-based Splendid. Each of these garments has drawstrings in the hoods which can pose a strangulation hazard to the wearers.

These clothing items were sold at children’s boutiques and major department stores in Las Vegas and throughout the country from August through November of this year for about $80 to $90 each. The zip jackets came in royal, parfait, jasmine, and camouflage colors; while the vest sets were available in eight different colors, including black, electric pink, and sapphire.

Also, the CPSC is recalling toddler girls’ shorts and pants produced by American Eagle Outfitters of Pittsburgh. About 1,200 toddler girl jeans, pants, and shorts were sold at 77Kids by American Eagle stores and on the retailer’s website in July and August of this year for between $24 and $34 each.

Seven garment styles are affected by this recall: Cut Off Bermuda Short, Roll Cuff Bermuda Short, Flare Rip and Repair, Flare LT Wash, Flare Vintage Blue Wash, Boyfriend Vintage Wash, and Skinny Cord. The sizes affected were from 12-18 months up to five years.

If you bought any of this clothing, be sure to return it to the place where it was purchased for a full refund. If these or any other clothing items have caused injuries to your children, you should contact a qualified product liability attorney to see about holding the clothing sellers and manufacturers responsible.
