When you fly to another city in the United States and need to rent a vehicle to get around, do you worry that you will get involved in an auto accident? You’re not alone. In fact, a large number of people feel that way when they come to Las Vegas.
A recent survey conducted by rental car insurance company Protect Your Bubble found that Las Vegas was fourth on the list of American cities where people worried that they may get into an accident while driving a rental car. Sin City came in behind New York, Los Angeles, and Boston. Vegas’s reputation for 24-hour gambling, clubbing, and drinking was the main reason behind the city’s showing on Protect Your Bubble’s list.
It’s not unusual to worry a little more about auto accidents when you’re driving a rental car. After all, you may not be as familiar with the controls, handling, and performance of a rental vehicle as you are with your own car. And if you’re trying to navigate through a city where you have never (or rarely) been before, you’re probably thinking more about auto accidents than you normally would.
The majority of auto insurance policies cover accidents in rental vehicles, but you can always purchase additional insurance and the rental counter. And if you are injured in a collision while driving a rental car, and the accident was caused by the negligence or recklessness of someone else, than you still have the right to file a personal injury lawsuit against the responsible party – just as you would if you were driving your own vehicle.
