Most car accidents are scary, but one of the most frightening and devastating traffic scenarios is the chain reaction crash.

This type of car wreck ocurred on U.S. 95 near Jones in Las Vegas on Friday night. A total of seven distinct car accidents were reported, and seven people had to be taken to a hospital for injuries.

About 8:30pm, a vehicle and an ambulance were involved in an car wreck in heavy traffic on the southbound side of the highway. When those two vehicles tried to move off to the shoulder, a different motorist was rear-ended by a vehicle which fled the scene of the crash. The rear-ended vehicle was still in a lane of traffic when it was struck once again by a fourth vehicle. Four more collisions occurred before the chain reaction was finally broken. The highway had to remain closed for several hours.

While it is unclear exactly who is at fault for which car caused the accident in this case, it is possible that a single motorist could be held responsible for injuries caused by some or all of the seven collisions. It is not uncommon for the motorist who starts a chain reaction collision to be found liable for all of the damages incurred during the entire mishap. Ironically, it appears that the chain reaction continued even though the initial two vehicles were obeying the law, which states that you must move your wrecked vehicle off of the roadway if possible after an car accident

If you are injured in a chain reaction accident and you are not sure who is at fault, contact a personal injury attorney. He or she will assist you in determining which drivers are responsible for the collision and help you obtain compensation for your medical costs.
